Q1. I am currently 17. Can I book a free guide?
A1.If you are under 20 years old, please find an adult person who is 20 years old or above to accompany you.
Q2. How much does it cost to use this service?
A2. Our guide service are totally free of charge and no tips are necessary. However, please be prepared to pay all the expenses of the guide dureing the tour, such as admission fees, restaurant meals, transportation fees, etc.
Q3. We are a group of six people.Can we still request a guide?
A3. IMPORTANT Note: Yes. However, we may arrange two (or more) guides for your group. Please be prepared to pay the expenses of both guides. We won't be able to provide a guide(s) to a group of SEVEN(7)of more people. If your group consists of more than SIX(6) people, please divide the group and request a guide for each group. Currently, we have English and Japanese speaking guides.
Q4. What languqge do guides speak?
A4. Currently, we have English and Japanese speaking guides.
Q5. For how many days can I request a guide?
A5. You may request a guide(s) for as many days as you wish, but we can't guarantee the availability of guides for all the dates that you have requested.
Q6. When should I request a guide?
A6. Please submit your request at least two to three weeks before arriving in Shizuoka. You ca also submit a request up to three months in advance. However, you may have to wait for a month or more for your guide to be arranged. We recommend submitting your request one or two months prior to your arrival.
Q7. What if there is no guide available?
A7. We have many more requests than we have available guides. Please understand that if you do not hear from a guide by two days prior to your requested tour date(s), it may mean that no guide is available for your tour.
Q1. I want to make sure my request was made.
A1. If you received the automatic email titled of “Your User Account was created & Confirmation of Receipt of Your Guide” for new guests or “Confirmation of Receipt of Your Guide Request” for registered guests, your guide request is registered. If you didn’t, your request may not have been received by SHIZUOKA FREE GUIDE. Please login and check whether your request was properly made. The login button is located in the upper right corner of the Web Page. After login, you will find a calendar. Please check if you find your name on the calendar of the month you plan to visit. If you don’t find your name, your request was not received by SFG.
Q2. I want to change the date of my tour (or hotel, places to visit, etc.).
A2. Please push the login button on the upper right corner of the Web Page, and find your name on the calendar. Please click your name, then make necessary modifications, confirm and push the “Register” button. If your guide was already assigned, please tell him or her the change directly by email.
Q3. I want to cancel my request.
A3. If your guide hasn’t been arranged yet, you can cancel your request by yourself. Please push the login button on the upper right corner of the Web Page, and find your name on the calendar. Please click your name, then push “Cancel Request” button, provide the reason of your cancellation, and push the “Register” button. If your guide was already assigned, please tell him or her of your cancellation directly by email.
Q4. How long do I need to wait before I am contacted by a guide?
A4. Your information is available to all of our guides, and if a guide becomes available for you, you will be notified by an automatic message with the title of “Your guide has been assigned.” Then you will be contacted by your guide within a few days.
Q5. I received an automatic message “Your guide has been assigned!” but my guide hasn’t contacted me.
A5. Please check your spam folder first. If you don’t find his/her email, please contact your guide directly. The email address of your guide is provided in the automatic message.
Q6. We are a group of 10 people. How can we book our guides?
A6. Please divide your group into smaller groups. One group should consist of no more than 6 people. Please create an account for each group and send your guide requests from separate accounts. Plural requests cannot be made by a single account for the same day. * Please note we cannot guarantee to arrange guides for all of your groups. Please understand we are all volunteers and the number of guides is limited.
Q7. Can I have a guide meet me at the airport?
A7. Usually no.
Q8. I’m traveling alone. Do you have any tours that I can join?
A8. We don’t provide group tours. You can request a guide just for you.
Q9. Can you recommend any accommodation?
A9. It is not appropriate for SFG to recommend any accommodation to our guests.
Q10. I’m a travel agent. Can I request a guide on behalf of my client?
A10. We don’t accept requests from travel agencies or for-profit organizations. Please advise your client to send their guide request directly to us.
Q11. It seems my request didn’t go through. Is your system working correctly?
A11. Please try to book from another computer. In most cases, the problem is solved by using a different computer/device.
